Minimum Wage in Hungary 2025

The Hungarian government decree on the establishment of the mandatory minimum wage and the guaranteed minimum wage has been published (Decree No. 394/2024. (XII. 12.)).
According to the decree, starting January 1, 2025, the minimum wage for employees working full-time is set as follows:
- Monthly wage: HUF 290,800
- Weekly wage: HUF 66,860
- Daily wage: HUF 13,380
- Hourly wage: HUF 1,672
Guaranteed Minimum Wage:
For jobs requiring secondary education or professional qualifications, the guaranteed minimum wage (known as the graduate minimum wage) will also increase starting January 1, 2025. For full-time work is set as follows,
- Monthly wage: HUF 348,800
- Weekly wage: HUF 80,190
- Daily wage: HUF 16,040
- Hourly wage: HUF 2,005
Performance-based Pay:
For performance-based pay salaries, where 100% of the performance requirements and full-time hours are met, the minimum monthly wage for employees is:
- Mandatory minimum wage (as per Section 2(1) of the decree): HUF 290,800 starting January 1, 2025.
- Guaranteed minimum wage (as per Section 2(2) of the decree): HUF 348,800 starting January 1, 2025.
Consideration of Hourly Wage for Non-Standard Full-Time Hours:
If the full-time work schedule deviates from 8 hours per day:
a) For longer hours [as per Section 92(2) of Act I of 2012 on the Labor Code], the hourly wage must be proportionally reduced.
b) For shorter hours [as per Section 92(4) of the Labor Code], the hourly wage must be proportionally increased.
Part-Time Work:
For part-time employment, the monthly, weekly, and daily wage rates specified in the decree must be proportionally reduced in accordance with the reduced working hours.
The provisions of the decree must first be applied when determining wages for January 2025.
